Upon passing some quality checkpoints, the packing line process became entirely manually handled; a member of staff would place 10 sachets in a hand-erected box, at a pace of approx. 60 sachets a minute, placing the box on the pallet, and hand-applying product labels. To maintain production output targets, 6 staff were required - in addition to an additional individual running the filler machine.
Bart Ingredients had switched to a case-packer machine, which used a timer to ‘count’ sachets and would glue boxes together, saving time and resources. However, to finish off the production line, assistance was needed to place the cases on pallets.
Bart Ingredients saw a Palletising Cell in action at the Olympus Technologies stand at the PPMA Show, and understood that this would complete the automation of their sachet production line. With the whole line automated, it ran at an increased speed, with the Palletiser Cell streaming the handling and stacking of seasoning blend products.
The integration of our Palletiser Cell provided impressive benefits to Bart Ingredients from the get-go:
The Palletiser Cell increased the throughput by 20 units per minute, representing a 33% increase in overall productivity on the palletising line.
As a result of the efficiency gains, one staff member who previously worked on the palletiser was freed up to take on higher-priority tasks.
One staff member now available to undertake higher priority tasks.
Adding a Palletiser Cell to the production line has reduced manual intervention, increase throughput, and enhanced operational efficiency. Our knowledge of robotic integration has allowed for the seamless installation and optimisation of this Palletiser Cell within Bart Ingredients’ existing production lines, paving the way for continued growth and efficiency.
