Cobot Press Brake Tending

Olympus Technologies has developed a standard cobot press brake tending solution, which enables a batch of parts to be manufactured through your press brake without human interaction.

The solution was originally created to support a customer who was struggling to recruit skilled press brake operators. It requires a smaller footprint than a traditional industrial robot solution, saving you precious factory space.

The Universal Robot can be mounted on a fixed or mobile stand, to enable the press brake to continue to be operated manually where there is no benefit to programming up a lower volume part, or to use the cobot for another process when the press brake isn’t required.

A datuming infeed station ensures parts are picked accurately, and a digital interface enables the cobot to control the operation of the press brake.

Olympus has developed the Scorpion end-effector to maximise manipulation of the part, and have written a software plug-in to allow for intuitive gripper control.

Olympus takes responsibility for UKCA marking to ensure your safety; different options can be discussed.

At present, the digital interface is only designed for the Trumpf Trubend 7XXX range of press brakes, but we are keen to add further models and manufacturers to our solution.
