James Burgess, Partner at Eaton Smith Solicitors, and member of the judging panel commented; “Olympus Technologies was formed in 1987 and are a long-standing member of the business community. The judges were particularly impressed by the company’s contribution and commitment to the region, in their support of local initiatives and their promotion of engineering as a career. As part of their commitment to providing opportunities across the region, Olympus Technologies has made significant investment in the recruitment, training and progression of both graduates and apprentices, in what is a highly skilled and technologically advanced industry.”

After doubling production and creating additional capacity with their first cobot welding system, Storth Machinery have taken the next step in their automation journey and purchased a second cobot welding system.

The installed solution compromises a Universal Robots UR10 CB3 welding system integrated to control the EWM AG Phoenix 355 Expert Water Cooler welding machine together with a DINSE robotic torch package, with the full system mounted on a Bosch Rexroth linear 7th axis, enabling larger parts to be welded.

If you would like to know more about our cobot welding system please give the Olympus Team a call on 01484 514513 or email [email protected].

We are really proud to share with you our second Universal Robot Integrator Case Study in collaboration with Storth Machinery.

Storth, like a lot of engineering companies, was struggling to find qualified welders, and the welders they had were spending too much time on basic and repetitive welding tasks. The company needed a solution that would enable it to increase its production and free up its human capital to focus on more interesting, higher margin work.

Olympus designed a bespoke collaborative welding application, capable of performing a wide range of basic welding tasks.

The results were instant. By reallocating staff away from basic welding tasks and on to specialist fabrication jobs, Storth was able to take on contracts with higher margins. It has gained an equivalent of two welders in production and the automated solution is producing twice the quantity of scraper parts that two staff were managing beforehand.
