Automated Manufacturing Solutions
The gripper is the single point of contact between your robot and your product. If it cannot pick reliably, orient correctly, or handle variation, the entire automation cell underperforms.
Generic grippers are designed for general use. Bespoke grippers are designed for your use - matching your part geometry, surface finish, weight and cycle-time targets precisely. The result is fewer drops, less damage, faster cycles and higher overall equipment effectiveness.
At Olympus Technologies we design, manufacture, and integrate custom end-of-arm tooling in-house at our West Yorkshire facility, giving you a single point of responsibility from concept sketch through to production sign-off.
We select and combine the right gripping technology for each application - vacuum, mechanical, magnetic or a hybrid of all three
Ideal for flat or semi-flat surfaces such as sheet metal, cardboard, glass, and plastic panels. Individual cup control ensures reliable pick even with part variation.
Pinch, clamp, or finger-style grippers for cylindrical, irregular, or heavy parts. Designed for secure retention during high-speed movement or orientation changes.
For ferrous materials where surface contact must be minimised. Switchable permanent magnets or electro-permanent magnets provide secure, energy-efficient handling.
Combining two or more technologies on a single tool head. Handle multiple part types or perform pick-and-place plus inspection in a single operation.
Our flagship modular gripper - designed in-house and purpose-built for Universal Robot cobots
The Olympus Scorpion Gripper is a modular, reconfigurable end-of-arm tool developed specifically for press brake tending, palletising, and general pick-and-place tasks on Universal Robot cobots.
Its modular rail system lets you reposition vacuum cups and mechanical pick points in minutes, while the companion Scorpion Gripper URCap software gives operators full control from the teach pendant, no separate programming interface needed.
The Scorpion Gripper is used across our press brake tending, palletising, and machine tending solutions, and can also be supplied as a standalone product for your own integration projects.
From initial part assessment to production-ready tooling - typically delivered in weeks, not months
We assess your part geometry, material, weight, surface finish and any environmental constraints such as temperature or contamination.
Our engineers produce 3D CAD models and simulations to validate the gripping approach, reach, payload and cycle time before manufacture.
We machine, assemble, and test the gripper at our facility using your actual parts or representative samples to confirm performance.
We install the gripper on your robot, commission the cell, train your operators, and provide ongoing support for spares and modifications.
Our bespoke grippers are deployed across a wide range of automated processes
Pick sheet metal blanks, load them into the brake and unload finished parts with the Scorpion Gripper.
Handle boxes, bags, trays and cartons at speed with vacuum or mechanical pick heads.
Load and unload CNC lathes, mills and injection moulding machines with precise part placement.
Sort, orient, and transfer parts between conveyors, trays or fixtures with vision-guided grippers.
Insert, press-fit or snap components together using controlled force and position feedback.
Present parts to cameras or gauges with repeatable orientation for automated quality checks.
The future of machine tending automation is being shaped by cutting-edge technological advancements
CAD, machining, assembly, and testing all under one roof for fast turnaround.
Our modular Scorpion Gripper is already deployed across installations around the world.
We design grippers for Universal Robots, FANUC, KUKA and other leading platforms.
